Here is a video ad I did for a job interview and 3 pictures for ads. First time using Adobe Premiere Pro, I’m quite happy with it.

Title = Bound to Mischief

Technique = ink, watercolor and gold paint on paper

Dimensions = paper : 42×59,4 cm (A2) / frame : 50x70cm

With this piece I got interested in Loki’s character, and what pushes him to act as the god of mischief. Not only is Loki presented as a complex individual in the movies he is in, and his story brings him to be as untrusting as he is untrustworthy, but he is also prisoner of his own archetype as a mythological character. Even when he tries to reunite with people he wants to trust, his brother for example, nothing seems to last because of multiple events, triggered by him or not. I got interested in his helmet as symbol of his status, his charges, and a recognizable point of his character design.

Usually, my geometry works bring together themes like imprisonment (in stories, fate, mental condition for example), aesthetically pleasing yet tense patterns, archetypes, life lessons and personal perception. I want the viewer to enter the prison or story characters create around themselves, and use it to question his own story.

 

Title = Iron Fate

In this piece I focused on Magneto and his peculiar story. As a survivor of concentration camps, and a mutant, he was bound to react to persecution. From victim he took the role of nazi hunter, and later,  raised mutants against persecution. He did not only react in defense but also took the lead in his behavior. Another interesting point is his helmet, which he took to protect himself from his best friend, Charles Xavier. It is for me an essential piece as he took it knowing he was taking a route where Charles wouldn’t follow him, and would try to stop him.

Title = Destructive Destiny

In this piece I focused on Hel, or Hela, goddess of the underworld in Scandinavian mythology and sister of Loki and Thor in the Marvel Franchise. I focused on the role she plays in the movies Thor: Ragnarok, where she is an impressive, and powerful character, but only seems to exists in the frame of the apocalypse. Her true place in the movie, is to be reborn and die again within the Ragnarok. She could have conquered thousands, ruled multiple worlds, but everything around her, her story and the characters she interacts with, only keeps her in this frame, as it’s her fate. Her impressive head piece got my attention and reminded me of Cernuros and other old and wild pagan deities, from when good and bad had an entirely different meaning compared to today. It is again a piece that represent her status as a queen, but also shows her extremely aggressive nature.
